Learn English in a small, relaxed setting
About the Teachers

Melanie Kraft
Thanks for visiting our website. Because my mother is Japanese, I have been interested and involved in ESL my entire life. After graduating from the University of Michigan, I moved to Japan and was trained as an ESL teacher. I taught English in Hiroshima to people of all ages, including school children, adults and businessmen.
I have worked for ten years as as an ESL tutor at Oakland Community College and as a volunteer tutor with the Oakland Literary Council. I have taught students from many countries around the world. I'm looking forward to meeting you and having you join my classes.

I spent a year as a foreign student at a Germany university, so I know the challenges of learning foreign languages, living in a foreign culture, and adjusting to a new life style. It's not easy!
Today I am a college ESL teacher. I know every person can learn not only to read and write English, but to understand and speak it well. The key is to keep learning and practicing.
All of us at ESL and More! really care about the individual student and make sure learning happens in every classroom session. I hope to see you at our school!

I've lived in the middle of multiple cultures all my life. Although I was born in Estonia, I grew up in Germany but have spent all my adult life in the U.S. So I have had to learn three different languages to get along in each country where I lived.
After college, I taught German at Wayne State University and tutored ESL students at the International Institute in Detroit. That is in addition to working at the corporate headquarters of Ford Motor Company for 30 years.
For the past eight years, I have been a teacher at Berlitz Languages. It has been very rewarding to see students improve their language skills, so I am looking forward to working with ESL and More! this year.

Just like you, I understand the joys and difficulties of studying a foreign language as an adult. I have lived in foreign countries without knowing the local language, and I understand how hard it can be.
I received my degree in Chinese Language and Civilization from Oakland University. For more than 20 years, I have been assisting students and business people improve their English communication skills in the U.S., China and South America.
I continue to study Chinese and English, which helps me understand the needs of the adult language learner. It is my pleasure to join ESL and More! to work with their brilliant staff and students.

I've taught ESL for many years - at elementary schools, community colleges, and in adult education classes. In addition I've tutored students of all ages from around the world, including young children, teens and adults.
I have always looked at the needs of each student so I can teach them the best way possible. I want students in my classes to learn useful grammar for communication and to practice those English skills in a comfortable classroom setting.
I am excited about the upcoming classes and the opportunity to meet you!
